“Nightshade” necklace from Obsydian Moon

by Mr. Wentworth on November 29, 2010

This is a part of a series of pieces of jewelry based on mythical supernatural creatures. This particular piece is for a female Dark Elf or a Faerie of the poisonous plant Belladonna or Deadly Nightshade.

The centerpiece is a section of deer bone capped with silver and Wyoming Jade. This piece also is carved by hand with Nightshade leaves and a vine. As with all Reliquaries in this series, one end pulls off to reveal a hollow inside the deer bone section meant to hold a prayer scroll, lock of hair or other relic.

The rope necklace has several stones on it in the colors of the Nightshade plant, such as Amethyst, Rutilated quartz, Aventurine, Serpentine Jade, Malachite, Green Goldstone and peridot. Some pewter findings are also used.

Allergy Notice:
For those allergic to nickel, be aware that German silver is a nickel/tin/copper alloy. If you have such an allergy and want to wear this piece, I recommend coating the metal portions with a layer of clear nail polish.
